Originally posted by Targ8ter:My carngage vision would involved the shortness of the strings. I can just see a tall guy like me taking a over-enthusiastic swing, running out of slack, and jerking the floor unit into the air where it would pendulum into the TV. Then the pedal would be whipped out from under my foot, causing me to stumble around with the main units swinging off my wrists in giant arcs o' doom.
It would look something like an athlete throwing the hammer.I read both of these posts, and the first thing I thought of was, this game would play great with a rear, ceiling mounted projector. No chance of damaging anything but the wall or screen, and playing this on a big screen sounds like good fun.Of course, sucky graphics will suck that much more on an 80' screen, but such is life. No disrespect to the reviewer, but this kind of review could really benefit if done by someone proficient at real golf. Does a real golf swing translate into game proficiency?
Since the golf swing is about muscle memory, real world golfers could either have trouble with this game, or even worse, wreck their real swings trying to modify it to something the game 'expects'.Also someone familiar with golf could have provided much more insight into how the game handles various shot situations (ie draws, fades, chips, bunkers, rough, sidehill lies, wind etc). Since the reviewer cites immersion factor as a plus for the game, I would have expected a bit more analysis of the game's handling of golfs finer points. There is much more to golf than just hitting it straight as far as you can.a few more random thoughts:What sort of options are there w.r.t.
Club selection and customization? Real world golfers might want to model the game clubs to reflect what they actually use.Does the game gracefully handle penalty stroke situations? Are the included courses modelled after real courses or fictional? From the picture of the reviewer swinging the guitar, it looks to me one could use a real club like a long iron or wood and not interfere with the game hardware. Definitely not a wedge or short iron though.Obviously the game is more forgiving than real world golf. Being able to shoot around par after a few hours is actually kind of worrisome.
If you got really good at this game, could you be consistently scoring in the low 60's or even the 50's?I would be interested in renting this game, but it would be hard to find given the unique hardware requirements.Overall, an interesting review and yeah, keep that left arm straight - View image here. Quite interesting. The serious golfer in me wants to try this out, but I know my hopes would be dashed because I have massive doubts this game would not let me do what I'm capable of on the course.I am concerned that you can shoot around par in a few hours of messing around.and judging by the pictures of your swing that's a bad thing. Nothing personal though eh? - View image here: -Maybe in a couple of generations though.it would be nice to fire up a quick 18 if RL demands were too heavy. That electricspin isn't even that expensive- about the cost of a new fairway wood - View image here: -and if it includes a game, then well, it's even cheaper.that's the problem with most golf games- too easy, really.after i got good at tiger woods 2003, i shot as low as 54, and in the 60's pretty regularly. It was a while ago, i seem to think that my lowest round may actually have been a 51.? A good thirty-four strokes lower than my lowest real-life round.
Not bad.-i don't own ps2 now, but it's pretty cheap, $100 or so for a refurb unit; $70 for gametrak, hmm.
